Rajasthan CM Calls Modi His 'Favourite Actor', Internet Erupts with Memes

A video of Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma naming Prime Minister Narendra Modi as his "favorite actor" has gone viral, igniting a social media frenzy and sharp criticism from the Congress. While BJP leaders defend Sharma's statement as a lighthearted comment, opposition leaders and netizens are having a field day, accusing the CM of sycophancy.

The viral clip, reportedly taken at an event featuring film personalities in Jaipur, shows Sharma laughingly responding "Narendra Modi Ji" when asked about his favorite hero. The comment, meant in jest, has now become political ammunition for rivals.

Congress leaders wasted no time in attacking the CM. Rajasthan Congress President Govind Singh Dotasara mocked Sharma, saying, "Better late than never! Even BJP’s CM admits that Modi Ji is not a mass leader but an actor skilled in camera tricks and teleprompter speeches."

Former OSD to ex-CM Ashok Gehlot, Lokesh Sharma, also joined in, tweeting, "Look! Even the CM handpicked by Modi Ji considers him an actor."

Meanwhile, BJP leaders are defending Sharma. Rajasthan BJP spokesperson Lakshmikant Bhardwaj accused Congress of twisting the CM’s words, writing on X, "Congress, known for worshipping one family, is now spreading fake news by editing videos. The CM was simply asked about his favorite hero, and he replied, 'Narendra Modi Ji.' Where is the controversy?"

Social media users, however, have turned the remark into meme material. Some are trolling Sharma for his "bhajan" (devotional song) for Modi, while others are accusing him of extreme flattery.

  • User Madan Lal Verma commented, "If BJP leaders don’t consider Modi their actor, their chair will be snatched away in no time."
  • Another user, Rohit Jhaliwal, wrote, "He was singing bhajans when he became CM. Don't call Modi 'papa' tomorrow!"
  • Kishan Singh quipped, "This is peak sycophancy! Now that he's CM, has he also been bought?"
