In a major push for healthcare access to Delhi’s elderly population, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday flagged off the ‘Mobile Registration Campaign’ under the Ayushman Bharat initiative, specifically targeting senior citizens above 70 years of age.

Addressing the launch, Gupta said, “There is a van here and two computer operators are here. This vehicle is here to register the senior citizens above the age of 70, under the Pradhan Mantri Vaya Vandana Yojana.” She added that 70 such vehicles will operate across 70 constituencies for 70 days, ensuring doorstep registration for senior citizens in the capital.

“This is on the occasion when the Delhi government is completing 70 days... these vehicles will reach every senior citizen in Delhi,” Gupta stated, highlighting the campaign’s symbolic and operational significance.

Taking a swipe at former CM Arvind Kejriwal, Gupta accused him of halting a key central welfare scheme during his tenure, thereby harming the interests of the elderly. “He (Arvind Kejriwal) had stopped this scheme of the Centre and people of Delhi suffered huge loss because of this,” she said.
