As Holi celebrations took place across Uttar Pradesh, Sambhal Police, led by Circle Officer Anuj Chaudhary, conducted a flag march on Friday to ensure law and order in the district. The police also carried out foot patrols and drone surveillance to monitor the situation and prevent any untoward incidents.
"We are conducting foot-patrolling and drone surveillance," Chaudhary told ANI, highlighting the administration's proactive approach to maintaining peace during the festival.
Sambhal MP Calls for Peaceful Celebrations
Ahead of Holi and Friday prayers, Sambhal MP Zia ur Rehman Barq urged people from all communities to uphold peace and mutual respect. Taking to social media, he appealed to Hindus to celebrate Holi with enthusiasm while being mindful of places of worship and requested Muslims to offer prayers at nearby mosques.
"The holy month of Ramzan is ongoing, and tomorrow is Friday. It is also the festival of Holi. I request my Muslim brothers to offer prayers at the nearest mosque and avoid places where colours are thrown. Likewise, I urge my Hindu brothers to celebrate with joy while ensuring mosques and people are respected," Rehman wrote.
He emphasized that his message was not driven by fear of the administration but by a desire to strengthen communal harmony and contribute to the city’s progress.
"I appeal to both communities to act in a way that does not hurt anyone’s sentiments. This is not out of fear of the police or government but for mutual brotherhood, peace, and the progress of our city, state, and country," he stated.
