Bharatiya Janata Party leader Samrat Choudhary was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Bihar on Wednesday, marking a historic moment as he became the first leader from the BJP to occupy the state’s top post. The oath of office was administered by Governor Syed Ata Hasnain at a ceremony held at Raj Bhavan, attended by senior party leaders and alliance partners.

Alongside him, Bijendra Prasad Yadav and Vijay Kumar Chaudhary from the Janata Dal (United) were sworn in as Deputy Chief Ministers, completing the initial formation of the new government.

Choudhary’s elevation signals a major shift in Bihar’s political landscape, positioning him at the centre of a new power structure in the state. The development also reflects the expanding footprint of the Bharatiya Janata Party across the country, with the party now governing or leading alliances in states that together account for nearly two-thirds of India’s population, underscoring its growing political dominance.
