Sandeep Dikshit Attacks BJP: ‘Why Ignore Delhi’s Healthcare Failures For 10 Years?’

Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit has accused the BJP of failing to address Delhi’s healthcare crisis and illegal immigration despite being in power at the Centre for the last ten years. He questioned why the BJP did not act earlier on the shortcomings of the Mohalla Clinics scheme, which were exposed in a recent CAG report. The report, tabled in the Delhi Assembly, highlighted a lack of ICU facilities, staff shortages, and inadequate medical equipment in government hospitals. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta termed it the "dark truth" behind the previous AAP government’s health model.

Dikshit raised concerns about the functioning of Mohalla Clinics, questioning their funding, procurement process, and the qualifications of the doctors appointed. He asked where the money for the scheme comes from and who is responsible for overseeing its implementation. He also alleged that there was no proper system in place to verify patient treatment claims.

The Congress leader criticized the BJP for not exposing these issues earlier, pointing out that the party was in power at the Centre and controlled Delhi Police. He questioned whether the BJP was complicit in AAP’s failures or deliberately allowed the issues to persist.

Dikshit also took on Union Home Minister Amit Shah over his recent directive to identify and deport Bangladeshi and Rohingya illegal immigrants, calling it a delayed response. He questioned what the BJP was doing for the last ten years and why it failed to create an effective action plan for tracking illegal immigration in a city as small as Delhi. He demanded that the Home Minister provide answers on the government’s inaction.
