Security Forces Foil Infiltration Bid Along LoC In J&K’s Keran Sector, Two Terrorists Killed In Intense Gunfight

In a major counter-infiltration success, Indian security forces thwarted an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Keran sector of Kupwara district on Friday (November 7). Acting on precise intelligence inputs, a joint team of the Indian Army and paramilitary forces launched a swift and coordinated operation to intercept the intruders attempting to cross from across the border.

Two terrorists have been neutralised in the ongoing encounter as troops continue to sanitize the area to ensure no further infiltration.

The alert troops detected suspicious movement during surveillance near the LoC, following which the infiltrators were challenged. In response, they opened indiscriminate fire, triggering a fierce exchange amid rugged and forested terrain. The security personnel immediately retaliated, cordoning off the area and sealing all possible escape routes to trap the armed infiltrators.

Officials said the gunfight continued for several hours, with additional reinforcements rushed to the site. Intensive combing operations are underway to rule out the presence of more terrorists attempting to sneak into Indian territory.

A senior Army officer said the infiltration attempt was foiled due to quick intelligence sharing and effective coordination between multiple security agencies. The operation reflects the heightened state of alertness along the LoC as winter approaches.

Security experts note that infiltration attempts usually increase before snowfall, as heavy snow later blocks traditional mountain routes used by militants to cross over from Pakistan-occupied territories. The Army and intelligence agencies have therefore intensified surveillance to prevent any breaches during this critical period.

An official statement emphasized, “The joint operation in the Keran sector demonstrates our unwavering vigilance and commitment to safeguarding India’s borders. Security forces remain on high alert to counter any threat to the nation’s sovereignty.”
