Congress MP Shashi Tharoor once again found himself at the centre of political discussion after declining to comment on reports suggesting interactions with individuals linked to the CPI(M), a move that has reignited speculation about a possible exit from the Congress. Tharoor, who was in Dubai to participate in a major literature festival, avoided direct answers when questioned about his political future.

Speaking briefly to reporters, Tharoor said he had noticed the reports during his journey but stressed that it would be inappropriate to address domestic political matters while abroad. “This is not the place for such talks,” he remarked. His cautious response has been widely interpreted as an attempt to keep the focus on the event while leaving political questions unanswered.

The renewed buzz comes amid ongoing talk of unease between Tharoor and sections of the Congress leadership in Kerala. Recent public appearances have reportedly added to this perception, with party insiders pointing to moments where Tharoor felt overlooked despite his stature and contributions. These developments have strengthened rumours that he may be exploring political alternatives.

Responding to the reports, LDF convener T P Ramakrishnan dismissed claims of any direct talks with Tharoor, seeking to calm immediate speculation. At the same time, he stated that the Left Democratic Front remains open to engaging with individuals and groups who align with its political ideology, a remark that has kept the debate alive.
