In a tragic incident on Tuesday morning, a watchtower collapsed during the 'Laddu Mahotsav' organized by the Jain community in Baraut city, Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh. The collapse claimed five lives, injured around 40 people, and left several feared trapped under the debris.
Rescue Operations in Full Swing
Authorities rushed to the site immediately after receiving the information. Rescue operations are underway, with ambulances deployed to assist in transporting the injured to nearby hospitals.
Baghpat District Magistrate Asmita Lal provided an update on the situation: "There was a Jain community program in Baraut. A wooden structure collapsed here, injuring about 40 people. Twenty people have been discharged after treatment, while 20 others are still undergoing care. Sadly, five people have lost their lives."
Uttar Pradesh CM Responds
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief over the incident and directed officials to expedite relief efforts. He also instructed medical teams to ensure proper treatment for the injured and ordered a thorough investigation into the collapse.
