Twisha Sharma Death Case: Husband Appears In Jabalpur Court As Family Seeks PM Modi’s Intervention

Nearly ten days after the death of 33-year-old Twisha Sharma at her matrimonial residence in Katara Hills, Bhopal, her husband Samarth Singh surfaced at a court in Jabalpur on Friday amid mounting pressure on investigators and growing public attention surrounding the case.
Although Samarth reached the Jabalpur District Court premises, his legal counsel clarified that he had not formally surrendered before the court and no proceedings regarding surrender had taken place before the judge. His lawyer stated that it was still uncertain whether he would surrender in Jabalpur or at another location.
Police had earlier announced a cash reward for information leading to Samarth Singh’s arrest after he remained untraceable following Twisha’s death on May 12. The reward amount was later increased to ₹30,000 as criticism intensified over the pace of the investigation. Authorities had also initiated legal steps seeking cancellation of his passport.
Twisha Sharma was found dead inside her matrimonial home under circumstances that her family has repeatedly described as suspicious. Following the post-mortem conducted on May 13, her body has continued to remain preserved at the mortuary facility of AIIMS Bhopal.
The Bhopal District and Sessions Court had earlier directed officials to examine whether any advanced preservation facilities with ultra-low temperature capability existed elsewhere in Madhya Pradesh or in metropolitan medical institutions, amid concerns over long-term storage.
Medical experts, however, maintained that the current preservation conditions were adequate. Officials from AIIMS Bhopal confirmed that the body is being stored safely at minus 4 degrees Celsius, which they said is sufficient for prolonged preservation. Former medico-legal experts also stated that a body maintained under such conditions can remain intact for several months without decomposition.
Meanwhile, the victim’s family has escalated its appeal by directly seeking intervention from Narendra Modi. Through emails and social media posts, the family alleged that the investigation into Twisha Sharma’s death could be influenced by powerful individuals and urged the Prime Minister to ensure a fair and transparent probe into the case.
