The 18th Lok Sabha is set to reconvene on July 22, marking the start of a crucial session focused on the full budget for the new fiscal year. This follows the interim budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on February 1, prior to the Lok Sabha elections.
Sitharaman, now preparing for her seventh consecutive budget presentation—a record in itself—will unveil the full budget on July 23. The anticipation surrounding this budget is high, with several key bills lined up for discussion.
Among the significant bills expected to be introduced is the Finance Bill for 2024. This bill is anticipated to address and give effect to the tax proposals outlined in the interim budget and is likely to be a focal point of debate.
Another crucial piece of legislation on the agenda is The Management Disaster (Amendment) Bill 2024. This bill aims to enhance clarity and coordination among various organizations involved in disaster management. The proposed amendments seek to streamline roles and responsibilities to improve the effectiveness of disaster response efforts.
Additionally, The Boilers Bill 2024 will be tabled. This bill proposes to repeal and re-enact the Boiler Act of 1923, a pre-independence law governing steam boilers. The updated legislation aims to make the Act more relevant and suitable for contemporary needs.

The Bhartiya Vayuyan Vidheyak, 2024, will also be introduced. This bill seeks to overhaul the Aircraft Act of 1934 to modernize and simplify regulations governing the aviation sector. Key objectives include addressing ambiguities in the existing Act, supporting the Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives, and aligning with international conventions and standards, such as the Chicago Convention and the practices recommended by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
As the Lok Sabha prepares to tackle these bills and present the full budget, all eyes will be on how the government’s proposals align with its economic and developmental goals. The outcome of this session is eagerly awaited, with significant implications for both policy and governance.
