In a fierce political attack ahead of the Kerala Assembly elections, Congress leader and Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi alleged that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is being “controlled” by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Speaking at a rally in Adoor, Gandhi intensified his criticism of the ruling Left government, escalating the political battle in the state.

“Controlled and Compromised” Allegation

Rahul Gandhi claimed that just as PM Modi is “compromised” by former US President Donald Trump, he similarly exerts influence over Vijayan.

He further alleged that the Kerala Chief Minister is “controlled by his corruption,” suggesting that the Left Democratic Front (LDF) is indirectly aligned with the BJP despite ideological differences.

Calls LDF a ‘Corporate-Funded Government’

Taking his attack further, Gandhi accused the LDF of abandoning its core Communist ideology.

He described the ruling front as a “corporate-funded government,” claiming it no longer behaves like a true Left administration and has drifted away from its traditional principles.

High-Intensity Campaign in Kerala

The remarks come during Gandhi’s aggressive two-day campaign across Kerala.

His outreach began with a strategy meeting with Congress leaders in Thiruvananthapuram, followed by rallies and grassroots interactions across key regions of the state.

The campaign aims to energise party workers and reconnect with voters ahead of the crucial elections.

Strategy to Corner BJP and LDF

Political observers see Gandhi’s statements as part of a broader strategy to corner both the BJP and the LDF simultaneously.

By questioning the ideological credibility of the Left and linking it with the BJP, Congress is attempting to consolidate anti-incumbency and anti-BJP votes under the United Democratic Front (UDF).
