Speculation is mounting over Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s son, Nishant Kumar, stepping into politics, with Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav urging the CM to clarify the matter. As Bihar gears up for assembly elections later this year, Yadav said that if questions are being raised, Nitish Kumar should come forward and provide an answer.
"... If questions are being raised, then the CM should come and clarify... If he is coming or not coming into active politics, the CM should answer it. How can we say anything about this? But the law and order situation is very poor, and everyone is feeling unsafe in Bihar," Yadav said while addressing reporters. His comments came in response to posters put up by JD(U) supporters in Patna, thanking Nishant Kumar for "listening to Bihar’s demands."
Meanwhile, Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi dismissed the debate, stating that there was nothing unusual about family members of politicians entering politics. He described Nishant Kumar as "capable and competent" and said he would welcome his entry into politics. "There are many leaders in India whose children and families have entered politics. If Nishant wants to come into politics, what is there to discuss? If he wants to come, we will welcome him," Manjhi told ANI.
Speculation intensified after Nishant Kumar was spotted celebrating Holi alongside top JD(U) leadership. His presence at party events and the emergence of posters in his support have fueled rumors that he may soon take up an active political role.
The development comes amid fresh political clashes in Bihar. On Sunday, Manjhi slammed RJD leader Tej Pratap Yadav after a video emerged showing police personnel dancing at his Holi celebrations. Manjhi accused Yadav of repeating the "misuse of power" that he alleged was common during his father Lalu Prasad Yadav’s rule. "They are known for their wrongdoings. Whatever happened during his father's rule, his son is doing the same," Manjhi remarked.
