Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a sharp attack on the Samajwadi Party (SP) during the Budget Session on Tuesday, accusing the opposition of playing with India's religious sentiments. His remarks came in response to Leader of Opposition (LoP) Mata Prasad Pandey, who had called him "communal."
"You play with India's religious sentiments and call our thinking communal. Tell me, how is it communal? We believe in inclusive development for all. Our guiding principle is 'Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah, Sarve Santu Niramaya,'" Adityanath said in the House.
The Chief Minister invoked socialist icon Ram Manohar Lohia, stating that he had once declared that as long as India upheld Lord Ram, Lord Krishna, and Adi Shankaracharya as its guiding ideals, no force could harm the nation. "Today’s Samajwadi Party has strayed far from the values and ideals of Lohia," he remarked.
Highlighting the success of the recently concluded Maha Kumbh, Adityanath said, "This grand event showcased India’s heritage to the world. Over 100 countries participated with devotion. There was no discrimination based on caste, sect, or religion. Everyone who attended left deeply moved."
