Union Home Minister Amit Shah has countered Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin’s criticism of the Centre over “Hindi imposition” by urging the DMK leader to introduce medical and engineering education in Tamil instead of politicizing language issues.

Speaking at the 56th Raising Day of the CISF in Thakkolam, Ranipet, Shah highlighted the Modi government’s commitment to linguistic inclusivity, citing recent reforms that now allow CISF aspirants to take exams in their regional languages, including Tamil.

“PM Narendra Modi has ensured that exams can be written in Tamil too. If the DMK is truly committed to preserving the language, they should start offering medical and engineering courses in Tamil,” Shah said, emphasizing that Tamil Nadu has played a crucial role in shaping India’s cultural and educational legacy.

His remarks come amid escalating tensions between the BJP and DMK, with Stalin ramping up his attacks against the Centre ahead of next year’s Assembly elections. The Tamil Nadu CM recently mocked the BJP’s three-language formula in the National Education Policy (NEP), calling it a “laughing stock” and accusing the party of treating the state like “second-class citizens” for opposing it.
