Bharatiya Janata Party workers in Delhi and Mumbai staged widespread protests against Congress leaders, targeting Rahul Gandhi after Youth Congress members disrupted the AI Impact Summit-2026. Protesters waved black flags at Gandhi’s convoy, drawing attention to the political tensions surrounding the summit. Earlier, BJP National Spokesperson Sambit Patra addressed the media in Delhi, accusing Congress of deliberately orchestrating the demonstration to tarnish India’s global image. He said four individuals, including the Youth Congress National Secretary, had been arrested in connection with the incident.

Patra stated, “This was not an experiment but a deliberate attempt to malign the country’s image. The Congress leadership failed to recognize that India was hosting a global AI summit, not the BJP.”

Union Minister Piyush Goyal described the protest as a display of the opposition’s “arrogance and frustration,” asserting it revealed Congress’s lack of vision for India. BJP leaders circulated a photograph showing Rahul Gandhi with Narsimha Yadav, believed to be one of the protest organisers, claiming it demonstrated a direct link between the party leadership and the demonstration. Other Union Ministers, including Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Pralhad Joshi, and Kiren Rijiju, condemned the protest as “shameful” and “treasonous,” emphasising that an international AI summit should not be used for political theatrics.

The Youth Congress protest reportedly aimed to oppose Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the proposed India-US trade deal, which Rahul Gandhi criticised in the recent Budget session, arguing it was signed under external pressure. While the BJP has actively condemned the Congress’s actions, the opposition has yet to release a formal response addressing the accusations.
