Congress leader and senior spokesperson Pawan Khera has raised sharp questions over the Modi government's handling of internal security and its silence on key terror-related incidents in Jammu and Kashmir, accusing it of evading accountability on national security matters.
Speaking at a press conference, Khera said, “So far we have not got answers to what happened to the terrorists in Poonch in 2023, in Ganderbal on 2 October 2024, in Pahalgam in April 2025, and where are the terrorists?” He demanded that the government reveal details of the follow-up operations and outcomes of these major terror attacks.
He also raised suspicions over the terms of the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, asking for transparency. “On what conditions did the ceasefire (between India and Pakistan) happen?” he questioned, suggesting that the lack of clarity fuels public distrust.
Further intensifying his criticism, Khera brought up the issue of globally wanted terrorists. “How did Hafiz Saeed and Masood Azhar escape?” he asked, referring to the two UN-designated terrorists, both accused of masterminding deadly attacks in India and yet believed to be at large despite international pressure.
The Congress leader urged the ruling BJP government to rise above politics when it comes to national security. “There should be serious discussions on serious issues,” he asserted, demanding a full parliamentary debate and disclosure on the government’s counter-terrorism policy and actions.
