Former Karnataka Cooperative Minister KN Rajanna, who recently resigned from the state cabinet, has claimed that his removal was orchestrated by the Congress high command, hinting at a deeper conspiracy.
In a late-night interaction with reporters, Rajanna clarified that the decision to “drop” him was made by the party’s top leadership. “You might have seen the letter sent to the Governor and the response from the Governor’s office mentioning the word ‘dropped’. This was the High Command’s decision. The Chief Minister sent the letter accordingly, and the Governor accepted it,” he said.
Rajanna maintained that this was the party’s collective decision and that now was not the right time to question the high command. “To avoid embarrassing the party leadership, I will refrain from making any further statements at this moment,” he added.
However, Rajanna promised to unveil the details of the alleged conspiracy behind his removal at an appropriate time. “Whether you call it a resignation, being dropped, or sacked, there is a conspiracy behind this. I will reveal who conspired, which leaders were involved, and how it all unfolded when the time is right,” he stated.
His exit follows his recent controversial remarks regarding irregularities in voter lists during the Congress tenure in Karnataka. Rajanna admitted that voter list revisions were poorly managed under the party’s rule, pointing to duplicate entries and suspicious names in less populated areas. He criticised the Congress for not raising timely objections and accused the Election Commission of altering the lists in ways that favoured the Prime Minister. Despite his criticism, he emphasized the need for vigilance in future electoral processes.
Defending the high command’s decision, Karnataka Law Minister HK Patil said, “Party discipline must be maintained. The high command has made its decision, and all members must abide by it. This is in the party’s best interest.”
