Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel To Boost Infrastructure: Rs 1,470 Crore Allocated For Road Upgradation

The initiative not only enhances the Ease of Doing Business in Gujarat but also supports the efficient movement of raw materials and finished products critical to industry operations

In a significant move aimed at bolstering infrastructure, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has given in-principle approval for the allocation of Rs 1,470 crore to upgrade and strengthen roads connecting industrial and quarry areas across the state. This initiative targets enhancing the road network covering 688 kilometers that link 65 key industrial and quarry zones.

The decision reflects an innovative approach tailored to meet the specific requirements of the Industries and Mines Department, aiming to alleviate traffic congestion in cities, towns, and villages connected by these critical roadways. Gujarat, renowned for its robust industrial base and proactive business policies, leads the nation in attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and fostering a conducive environment for economic growth.

Under Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel’s leadership, Gujarat has witnessed substantial industrial expansion, bolstered by initiatives like the Vibrant Gujarat Summit initiated under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’. Recognizing the pivotal role of infrastructure in sustaining economic momentum, Patel has significantly increased financial allocations for the road sector by over 80% in the past two years.

The allocated funds will facilitate the widening of 83 kilometers of roads to four lanes and the expansion of another 173 kilometers to 10 meters. Additionally, 432 kilometers of roads will undergo strengthening and upgrading, accompanied by necessary enhancements to bridges and drainage structures. Detailed project reports are slated for preparation, with provisions for constructing flyovers as needed.

Chief Minister Patel has emphasized the importance of rural connectivity, particularly for roads linking quarry areas and industries, directing the Road and Building Department to adopt a comprehensive regional strategy covering North, Central, South, Kutch, and Saurashtra regions. This strategic planning aims to meet both current demands and future growth needs, ensuring seamless connectivity for industrial and quarry areas.

The initiative not only enhances the Ease of Doing Business in Gujarat but also supports the efficient movement of raw materials and finished products critical to industry operations. By bolstering infrastructure, the state aims to attract further investments and reinforce its commitment to Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a developed India, encapsulated in Gujarat’s aspiration to be a beacon of progress and innovation.
