The debate over religious sentiments and governance took a fiery turn as AAP MP Sanjay Singh lashed out at BJP MLA Ravinder Singh Negi over his demand to shut down meat shops in Delhi during Navratri. In a scathing counterattack, Sanjay Singh questioned the double standards of the BJP, challenging them to shut down liquor shops, KFC outlets, and even restaurants owned by BJP leaders if they truly cared about religious sentiments.
"Here there are embassies of various countries, where meat and fish are cooked. There are so many guest houses in Delhi from various countries, even there also meat is cooked. KFC shops and BJP leaders' restaurants are open, try closing them, if they have guts!" Sanjay Singh declared, exposing what he called the hypocrisy of the BJP’s selective bans.

Taking the attack a step further, Singh questioned why liquor shops remain open during Navratri, despite alcohol consumption being considered against Hindu religious practices. "Why are liquor shops open during Navratri? Close liquor shops throughout Navratri if you truly respect Hindu sentiments!" he challenged.
The remarks have ignited a fresh political controversy, with the AAP and BJP locking horns over religious governance and individual freedoms. While the BJP MLA demands a meat ban in line with Hindu traditions, AAP leaders argue that such selective bans are impractical in a diverse and global city like Delhi, where people from various backgrounds, faiths, and nationalities reside.
