New Delhi: In a major relief amid rising tensions in West Asia, the Centre on Wednesday confirmed that all Indian vessels operating in the critical Strait of Hormuz are completely safe, with no incidents reported so far.

Speaking on the situation, Rajesh Kumar Sinha, Special Secretary at the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, assured that the government is closely monitoring every development. He stated, "All Indian vessels remain safe, with no incidents reported."

25 Indians Repatriated, Emergency System Active

Highlighting the government’s swift response, Sinha revealed that 25 Indian nationals were repatriated in the last 24 hours after sign-off from various international ports.

A dedicated 24×7 control room has been actively managing the crisis, handling 125 calls and around 450 emails, ensuring all concerns were addressed without delay.

Cargo Operations Continue Without Disruption

Despite the geopolitical tension, maritime operations remain stable. LPG carriers Shivalik and Nanda Devi are continuing cargo discharge operations as planned. To further boost efficiency, authorities have added 2,500 square meters of extra space at Visakhapatnam Port.

Officials also confirmed that no Indian port is facing congestion issues, ensuring smooth trade flow.

Mundra Port Running Smoothly

Mundra Port is currently operating at around 25% of its 4 lakh TEU capacity, with no disruptions in handling sensitive and perishable cargo.

The ministry emphasized that shipping movements, seafarers’ safety, and overall maritime trade are under constant surveillance.

Crude Oil Supply Maintained

In a key development, a vessel carrying 80,886 metric tonnes of crude oil from the United Arab Emirates was successfully loaded at Fujairah Port and continues its journey without any issues.

India on High Alert

With the Strait of Hormuz being one of the world’s most crucial oil routes, the government remains on high alert amid the ongoing regional conflict. Officials reiterated that India is prepared to take all necessary steps to safeguard its citizens, ships, and trade interests.
