India issued a powerful and uncompromising response to Pakistan at the UN Security Council, accusing it of rampant child rights abuses, cross-border terrorism, and politically motivated attempts to mislead the international community while ignoring atrocities within its own borders.
During the annual UNSC open debate on Children and Armed Conflict (CAAC), India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, condemned Pakistan as “one of the grave violators of the CAAC agenda”, and rejected Islamabad’s “unwarranted aspersions” on India.
“I am constrained to respond to the politically motivated remarks made by the delegate of Pakistan,” said Ambassador Harish.
“Pakistan is casting unwarranted aspersions over UN processes and smearing India in various discussions to pursue their nefarious agenda.”
Harish said Pakistan’s accusations were a diversion tactic, attempting to deflect global attention from its own shocking human rights record, especially crimes against children. He cited the UN Secretary-General’s recent report, which documented grave violations committed inside Pakistan, including attacks on schools and medical staff.
Ambassador Harish also reminded the UNSC of the April 22, 2025, terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, in which 26 tourists were killed by Pakistan-trained terrorists.
“The world has not forgotten the savage attacks by Pakistan-trained terrorists targeting civilians and children in India,” he noted.
He further exposed Pakistan’s continued military aggression, mentioning that cross-border shelling in May 2025 killed or injured multiple civilians in Indian border villages. He also highlighted incidents of Pakistani shelling near Afghanistan, where children were among the victims.
“To preach at this body after such behaviour is grossly hypocritical,” Harish declared, firmly closing his remarks.
In his broader address to the UNSC, the ambassador called for global cooperation to strengthen protections for children in conflict zones, urging member states to invest in local systems that safeguard education, healthcare, and community resilience.
