As Maharashtra gears up for the crucial Budget Session starting March 3, Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) chief Jayant Patil has warned that the opposition will corner the Mahayuti government over its handling of the state’s economy and governance.
Patil criticized the ruling coalition, claiming that Maharashtra’s financial health is in a precarious state. “There is a massive deficit, and the economic condition of the state is not good. The Mahayuti government will face numerous challenges in this session,” he stated.
Ladki Bahin Yojana Under Scrutiny
The senior NCP (SP) leader targeted Finance Minister Ajit Pawar, saying he would struggle to account for the expenditure on the Ladki Bahin Yojana. The scheme provides ₹1,500 per month to women from economically weaker families. “With the state’s financial situation worsening, how will they sustain this scheme?” Patil questioned.
Opposition’s Strategy to Take on the Government
Patil asserted that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) would use the session to highlight issues such as law and order failures, mismanagement of government schemes, and the plight of farmers. “The state government has failed miserably in governance. MVA will meet in the first week of March to finalize its strategy,” he said.
Additionally, he confirmed that the MVA would formally stake claim to the Leader of Opposition post soon.
