Authorities have launched a probe into an alleged examination breach after the Class 12 Chemistry question paper, conducted by the Maharashtra state board, was reportedly circulated on social media before the exam took place. Police officials confirmed on Saturday that the suspected leak surfaced in Nagpur and is now under detailed investigation.
The issue came to light on Wednesday at an examination centre when invigilators noticed a female student repeatedly leaving the examination hall, triggering suspicion. On checking, officials confiscated her mobile phone, which later revealed evidence pointing to a possible paper leak.
Preliminary examination of the device indicated that images of the Chemistry question paper had been shared in a WhatsApp group prior to the start of the exam. Investigators also found that suggested answers were circulated within the same group, raising serious concerns about organised malpractice.
According to initial findings, the leak may be linked to an individual associated with a private coaching institute, who allegedly shared the question paper in exchange for money. Police are currently tracing the origin of the leak and identifying others who may have benefited from or participated in the circulation.
