With the Bihar Assembly elections 2025 officially set to begin with the issuance of the first-phase notification on Friday, political strategizing is already in full swing. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, president of JD(U), and Union Minister Chirag Paswan, head of LJP (Ram Vilas), are holding separate meetings to finalize seat-sharing arrangements, according to FPJ reports.

Nitish Kumar convened a high-level gathering of senior JD(U) leaders at his official residence on 1, Anne Marg to firm up the list of candidates for the upcoming polls. Meanwhile, Chirag Paswan called an urgent meeting of his party’s core team at the state office, focusing on seat distribution and election preparations. Although Chirag is in New Delhi, LJP(RV) MP Arun Bharti from Jamui is representing the party in the discussions.

Reports suggest that a major point of contention is the number of seats for LJP(RV). Chirag is said to be demanding 36 seats, while the BJP is willing to allocate only 22. Before departing for Delhi, Chirag remarked that final decisions would follow the central parliamentary board meeting after deliberating on election strategies.

JD(U) has reportedly taken a firm stance on retaining constituencies held by sitting legislators, whereas LJP(RV) aims to contest key seats including Manhar, Matihani, and Chakai, currently under JD(U) control.

Adding to the political heat, HAM leader BK Singh announced plans to file his nomination from Morwa assembly constituency in Samastipur on October 13, claiming support from party president Santosh Manjhi. Singh also leveled allegations against former JD(U) MLA Vidyasagar Singh Nishad, accusing him of amassing disproportionate assets.
