The Jammu and Kashmir Congress on Friday strongly condemned Pakistan’s latest drone and missile attacks targeting civilian and strategic areas in Jammu and adjoining regions. The party warned Islamabad of serious consequences, asserting that Pakistan “will have to pay for its sins.”

“J-K Pradesh Congress Committee strongly condemns the provocative and escalatory actions of Pakistan by launching drone and missile attacks in Jammu city and other parts last night,” said the party's chief spokesperson, Ravinder Sharma, in a sharply worded statement.

"Pakistan will pay for its sins," he added, underlining the rising tensions between the two countries.

Late Thursday night, Pakistani forces fired eight missiles aimed at civilian and military installations in Satwari, Samba, RS Pura, and Arnia. However, the Indian armed forces responded with precision and speed. According to officials, every missile and drone was successfully intercepted, preventing any casualties or damage.

The attempted strikes in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur were part of a fresh round of cross-border hostilities, coming just a day after India launched "Operation Sindoor" – a targeted military operation in which the Indian Army carried out precision missile strikes on nine terror hideouts in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Pakistan. The operation was a retaliatory move following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of Indian security personnel.

Thursday’s aggression marked Pakistan’s renewed effort to destabilize the region, launching attacks at 15 key locations across India’s northern and western frontiers. Indian air defence units, including advanced missile interception systems, were on high alert and executed a robust counter to neutralize the threats.

Security across Jammu and Kashmir remains tight, with Indian forces maintaining a vigilant posture amid fears of a potential escalation. Defence analysts suggest that India’s successful interception and swift retaliation have sent a clear message across the border.
