In a strategic move following recent military actions, Pakistan has initiated a diplomatic campaign aimed at garnering international support, particularly from the United States and the United Kingdom. This outreach comes in the wake of significant damage to its airbases and terror targets during 'Operation Sindoor,' a retaliatory operation by Indian forces in response to the April 22 attack in Pahalgam.
On Monday, Pakistan's Foreign Office detailed its diplomatic efforts, emphasizing the need for dialogue to address ongoing issues between the two nations. This initiative follows India's own diplomatic outreach, where it dispatched seven multi-party delegations to 33 countries to bolster its anti-terrorism stance after the Pahalgam attack, which resulted in the loss of 26 lives.
Pakistan's diplomatic push includes two separate delegations. A high-level team, led by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party and former foreign minister, is set to visit key cities including New York, Washington DC, London, and Brussels starting June 2, 2025. The nine-member delegation also features notable figures such as federal minister Musadik Malik, former foreign ministers Hina Rabbani Khar and Khurram Dastgir Khan, and Senator Bushra Anjum Butt, among others.
Meanwhile, a second delegation, headed by Syed Tariq Fatemi, special assistant to the prime minister, is scheduled to travel to Moscow on the same date, although details regarding its composition have not been disclosed.
Both delegations are expected to engage in discussions with leaders from international organizations, government officials, parliamentarians, think tanks, and media representatives, as part of their efforts to strengthen Pakistan's position on the global stage.
