The BJP continues to reel under public backlash as yet another controversial video of one of its leaders has gone viral on social media. This time, the spotlight is on Kamal Raghuwanshi, a BJP leader from Sivni Malwa in Madhya Pradesh, whose objectionable behaviour with a female dancer at a wedding ceremony has sparked outrage.
The incident reportedly took place on April 29 (Tuesday) during a lavish wedding celebration, attended by a large gathering including local residents and several political figures. In the now-viral clip, Raghuwanshi is seen approaching a female dancer mid-performance and behaving inappropriately. The video shows him attempting to kiss the performer, completely disregarding the public setting—and the presence of children who were visible in the background.
As the video spread like wildfire across social media platforms, several eyewitnesses confirmed that many guests walked out in disgust, unable to tolerate the leader's conduct. The backlash has reignited conversations about the repeated misconduct by political figures during public events.
This episode follows closely on the heels of a similar controversy involving Manoharlal Dhakad, another BJP leader from Madhya Pradesh, whose video had already stirred massive criticism just days earlier. Even more disturbingly, BJP leader Baban Singh Raghuwanshi from Ballia (Uttar Pradesh) made headlines recently for an obscene video showing him groping a dancer during a marriage function in Bihar.
As these incidents pile up, the BJP finds itself cornered by a barrage of criticism from opposition parties and civil society.
Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate, in a scathing post on X (formerly Twitter), remarked: "The country is stunned by the disgraceful acts of BJP leaders in recent days. First, UP’s Baban Singh Raghuwanshi, then MP’s Manoharlal Dhakad, and now Kamal Raghuwanshi from Narmadapuram. Are these the men we trust to protect our daughters?"
