Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal stirred conversation once again by stating that he deserves a Nobel Prize for governance and administration, citing the work accomplished during his tenure despite what he called constant interference from the Lieutenant Governor (LG).
Speaking at a book launch event in Mohali, Punjab, Kejriwal said, “Jitne din humare sarkar rahi, humein kaam nahi karne diya. Uske bawajood humne kaam kiya. Governance aur administration ke andar mereko Nobel Prize milna chahiye ki LG ke rehte hue maine kitne saare kaam kar diye Delhi ke andar.”
(Translation: "For as long as our government was in power in Delhi, we were not allowed to work. Yet, despite all that, we achieved a great deal. I deserve a Nobel Prize for governance and administration for accomplishing so much while the LG was present.")
Kejriwal made the remark while sharing the stage with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and other senior AAP leaders. His comment was met with a mix of laughter and applause from the audience.
This is not the first time Kejriwal has made such a statement. During the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, he had similarly claimed that the Delhi government overcame numerous bureaucratic hurdles created by the LG's office, yet succeeded in implementing significant welfare and infrastructure projects.
