Panic gripped Delhi-NCR on Thursday morning after strong tremors from an earthquake were felt across the region. The National Center for Seismology (NCS) confirmed that the earthquake measured 4.4 on the Richter scale and originated from Jhajjar in Haryana, with a depth of 10 kilometers.

The tremors, which occurred around 9:04 AM, were felt widely across Delhi and adjoining areas including Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, and Gurugram. The sudden jolt lasted only a few seconds but was intense enough to cause alarm among residents.

Many people rushed out of homes, offices, and buildings as a precautionary measure. Reports from across the NCR mentioned ceiling fans swinging and light furniture trembling, leading to brief confusion and fear.

In residential areas, people gathered in open spaces, concerned about potential aftershocks. Schools and offices temporarily halted operations to ensure the safety of students and staff. Emergency protocols were activated in several institutions as a preventive step.

Despite the strength of the tremors, no structural damage or casualties were reported. Authorities confirmed that there were no immediate signs of injuries or infrastructure collapse in the affected regions. The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) issued an advisory encouraging citizens to remain calm and follow earthquake safety guidelines.

Experts pointed out that while a 4.4 magnitude earthquake is considered moderate, its impact was strongly felt due to its shallow depth and proximity to highly populated urban areas.
