Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday congratulated the people of Bihar for delivering a historic mandate to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), describing the election results as a clear affirmation of the government’s policies and governance. Addressing party workers at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi, Modi highlighted the alliance’s landslide victory in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, in which the NDA, led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, is set to win around 202 of the 243 seats, while the Mahagathbandhan managed only 35.
Speaking passionately, PM Modi said, “Bihar ke logon ne garda uda diya,” referring to the decisive mandate as a watershed moment for the state. Taking a dig at the opposition, he assured that the days of “Katta Sarkar” and misgovernance were over, promising unprecedented development for Bihar in the coming years. “When I used to speak about Jungle Raj and Katta Sarkar, the RJD raised no objections. However, it unsettled the Congress. Today, I want to reiterate that Katta Sarkar will never return to Bihar,” he said.
Modi expressed gratitude to the people of Bihar for supporting the NDA, stating that this victory reflected the aspirations of youth and women. “Some parties in Bihar had created an appeasement-driven MY Formula. But today’s victory has given a new positive MY Formula, and that is mahila (women) and youth. Bihar is among the states with the highest number of young people, and their aspirations have shattered the old, communal MY Formula of Jungle Raj,” he noted.
The Prime Minister emphasized that voters had chosen development and prosperity over divisive politics. “People of Bihar have voted for a developed Bihar, they have voted for a prosperous Bihar. During the election campaign, I had urged the people for record voting, and the people have broken all records,” Modi said. He also criticized the Congress for its political strategies, stating, “The Congress has become MMC—Muslim League Maoist Congress—and the entire agenda of the Congress now revolves around this. A separate faction is emerging within Congress that is uncomfortable with this negative politics, and there could be another major split in the party.”
Modi concluded by linking the Bihar victory to broader political ambitions, saying it paves the way for the BJP’s success in West Bengal as well. “I want to assure the people of West Bengal that, with your support, the BJP will put an end to the Jungle Raj in the state,” he said, while warning political allies to remain cautious of Congress’s strategies.
