In a bold crackdown under Operation Lagaam, Uttarakhand Police intercepted a black Scorpio SUV flaunting illegal modifications, political stickers, and a BJP flag on the bonnet. The incident, now viral on social media, unfolded at Chandi Ghat, where police were conducting stringent vehicle checks to curb road rage and VIP misuse of traffic norms.

The Scorpio (UP50OD0801), driven by young students, had its windows covered with black film, a hooter installed, and bore stickers claiming connections to a sitting MLA and Block Pramukh. Upon stopping the vehicle, police officers began questioning the passengers.

In a now widely circulated video, one of the boys inside the vehicle can be heard saying, "Hum unke ladke hai jinki gaadi hai. Vidhayak uncle hai humare" ("I am the son of the car's owner. My uncle is the MLA"). The statement, attempting to leverage political clout, was immediately dismissed by the officers, who reminded them that no one is above the law.

Police removed all unauthorized modifications on the spot — black films, hooter, political flags and stickers — and issued a challan to the driver for multiple traffic violations. The vehicle was also seized.

The drive has received support from locals, and according to reports, over 587 challans were issued within just one week of the operation’s launch.
