Congress Unveils First List Of 48 Candidates For Bihar Assembly Elections

The Congress party on Thursday unveiled its first list of 48 candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, amidst ongoing deliberations within the Mahagathbandhan over seat-sharing.

Bihar Congress Legislative Party leader Shakeel Ahmad Khan will contest from the Kadwa Assembly seat. Other notable names include Rajesh Ram from Kutumba, Jayesh Mangal Singh from Bagaha, Amit Giri from Nautan, Abhishek Ranjan from Chanpatia, and Wasi Ahmed from Bettiah.

The list is evenly split across the two phases of polling, with 24 candidates for the first phase and 24 for the second phase, scheduled on November 6 and 11, respectively. The Congress has fielded Shyam Bihari Prasad from Raxaul, Shashi Bhushan Rai from Govindganj, Amit Kumar Singh Tunna from Riga, and Navin Kumar from Bathnaha.

Several seats have veteran candidates or repeat contenders. Anand Shankar Singh has been retained from Aurangabad, while Garib Das will contest from Bachwara. Other second-phase candidates include Manohar Prasad Singh from Manihari (ST), Sarita Devi from Sonbarsha, Mithilesh Kumar Chaudhary from Benipur, Bijendra Chaudhary from Muzaffarpur, Om Prakash Garg from Gopalganj, and Er. Sajneev Singh from Vaishali.
