In a significant development, India and China have reached an agreement on patrolling arrangements along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri announced following recent negotiations between officials from both countries. This marks a potential breakthrough in the prolonged standoff at the India-China border.

Speaking about the progress, Misri stated, "We have reached an agreement with China on the issues being discussed," further emphasizing that this development is likely to lead to disengagement at the border.

Misri elaborated on the details, saying, "As a result of the discussions that have taken place over the last several weeks, an agreement has been arrived at on patrolling arrangements along the Line of Actual Control in the India-China border area. This is leading to disengagement and, eventually, a resolution of the issues that had arisen in these areas in 2020."

The negotiations have been ongoing for several months, aiming to de-escalate tensions that have persisted since the border clashes between Indian and Chinese troops in 2020. The LAC, a de facto boundary separating Indian and Chinese territories, has been the focal point of several military standoffs, with both nations holding contrasting views over its precise demarcation.
