In a high-voltage session of the Lok Sabha yesterday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi delivered a fiery speech targeting the BJP and RSS. His remarks have since gone viral on social media, igniting a fierce debate across the country. Supporters and critics alike are weighing in on his statements, with reactions ranging from fervent agreement to staunch opposition.
The speech that has captivated the nation includes a particularly controversial segment where Gandhi declared, “The Abhayamudra is the symbol of the Congress… It dispels fear and accords divine protection and bliss in Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism, Buddhism, and other Indian religions… But, those who call themselves Hindu only talk about violence, hatred, untruth… you are not Hindus.” This emphatic statement was made during his address, highlighting his views on the current political climate.
In response, several top BJP ministers were quick to slam Gandhi for his remarks on Hinduism. However, his allies have rallied to his defense. MP Imran Masood, speaking with ANI, clarified Gandhi’s intent. "Rahul Gandhi said that a Hindu can never be violent, he can never spread hatred. Such things should not be said in the name of Hindus - Rahul Gandhi said this. If you are taking it like this, it means that you want to run away from discussions on issues - youth, students, farmers, businessmen, women of the country are worried," Masood explained.
Masood further elaborated on the controversy, addressing the BJP leaders’ demands for an apology from Gandhi. "What for? Is Rahul Gandhi not a Hindu? He is a worshipper of Lord Shiv. He spoke about the teachings of Hinduism," Masood stated, underscoring Gandhi’s personal faith and his interpretation of Hindu principles.
The debate over Gandhi’s speech has not only dominated political discourse but has also become a hot topic among citizens. Some agree with Gandhi’s critique, seeing it as a necessary call for introspection within the Hindu community. Others, however, view it as an unnecessary provocation that undermines the unity and harmony of the nation.
