Amid growing tensions along the India-Pakistan border, Indian authorities confirmed that the Pakistan Army has begun mobilising troops towards forward positions — the most significant military movement since the 1999 Kargil conflict. Indian officials sounded the alarm during a Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) briefing on Friday.
Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, addressing the media, said, “Pakistani troops have been observed moving into forward areas, indicating their intent to further escalate the tensions.” She stressed that such movements point towards an aggressive posturing by Islamabad, following days of rising cross-border hostilities.
Highlighting India’s preparedness, Singh added, “Indian armed forces remain in a high state of operational readiness, and all hostile actions have been effectively countered and responded proportionately. Indian armed forces reiterated their commitment to non-escalation, provided the Pakistan side reciprocates.”
The Indian military’s alert comes amid a series of aggressive actions from across the border. According to Singh, Pakistan fired a high-speed missile at an Indian air base in Punjab around 1.40 am, while also targeting medical facilities in Srinagar, Avantipora, and Udhampur.
Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, who has been providing regular updates on the conflict, confirmed, “A befitting reply has been given to Pakistani actions.” She emphasised that India continues to act with strategic restraint but has responded with precision to every provocation.
Qureshi further detailed the Pakistani aggression, stating, “Pakistan military used high-speed missiles at 1.40 am to target an air base in Punjab.” The situation remains tense, with Indian forces on full alert across all key fronts.
