Pakistan has announced a major diplomatic facilitation ahead of the high-stakes Islamabad Talks 2026, with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar confirming that all delegates, journalists and representatives attending the summit will be granted visa-on-arrival.
In a statement shared on X, Dar said, "Pakistan welcomes all delegates including journalists from participating nations, travelling in relation to Islamabad Talks 2026. To this end, all airlines are requested to permit boarding to all such individuals without visa. Immigration authorities in Pakistan will issue them visa on Arrival." The move is being seen as an effort to ensure smooth participation from countries involved in the crucial dialogue.
The talks, scheduled to begin on Saturday in Islamabad, come in the backdrop of a fragile geopolitical situation. The negotiations follow a two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran after weeks of escalating tensions that had raised fears of a broader regional conflict. Pakistan is widely believed to have played a key role in brokering the temporary truce, positioning itself as a mediator in the crisis.
The American delegation is expected to be led by Vice President JD Vance, accompanied by key envoys of President Donald Trump, including Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. Their presence underscores Washington’s intent to actively engage in dialogue aimed at sustaining the ceasefire and exploring long-term solutions.
While Tehran has not officially confirmed its delegation, multiple media reports suggest that the Iranian team may be led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, along with Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and other senior officials. The participation of top Iranian leadership is expected to be critical in shaping the outcome of the talks.
Security arrangements in Islamabad have been significantly intensified ahead of the summit, with authorities deploying additional forces and implementing strict monitoring protocols to ensure the safety of visiting dignitaries. The high-profile nature of the event, coupled with the sensitive geopolitical backdrop, has made it one of the most closely watched diplomatic engagements in recent times.
The Islamabad Talks 2026 are being viewed as a crucial opportunity to stabilize relations between the US and Iran, with Pakistan emerging as a central player in facilitating dialogue during a period of heightened global uncertainty.
