Political Career
Kundanben Kothiya was elected as a Corporator from Ward 4 (Kapodra) in the Surat Municipal Corporation elections held in February 2021. She contested the election on an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ticket and emerged successful, making her one of the earliest representatives of AAP in Gujarat.

Later, on April 1, 2022, Kothiya returned to AAP, expressing dissatisfaction with BJP's limitations on her community work. She stated that she was unable to function freely within the BJP and wanted to return to a party where she could engage more effectively with her constituents. Her return to AAP was welcomed by senior leaders such as Gopal Italia and Gulab Singh Yadav. (Indian Express)

The event sparked outrage within AAP, with the party threatening legal action over the mistreatment of its councillors. (Vibes of India)
