Union Minister Nityanand Rai launched a scathing attack on the Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on June 5, invoking the legacy of Jayaprakash Narayan’s "total revolution" movement. Marking the anniversary of the historic call for change, Rai accused opposition leaders of betraying the very ideals they once stood for.
"Today is June 5. A call for total revolution was given on this day under the leadership of Jayaprakash Narayan against Congress, the killer of democracy, who ruined this country by imposing Emergency and snatching the rights of the people... That movement shook Congress's power..." Rai said.
The Union Minister didn’t hold back in targeting RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav, claiming that his alliance with Congress was a betrayal of JP’s vision. "But the people involved in the movement started playing with the greed for power. Lalu ji went into the lap of Congress and in the greed for power, betrayed JP, the movement, the total revolution and proved that the 'Kundli' of Congress and RJD is the same... the public will never forgive him..." he said.
