In the wake of the tragic Kalyan rape case, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has expressed deep concern over the growing number of such incidents in society. Speaking on the matter, Fadnavis emphasized the urgent need for quicker justice through the judicial system and greater societal awareness to combat such heinous crimes.

"Unfortunately, these incidents are happening in society," Fadnavis said, highlighting the grim reality of sexual violence in the state. He went on to stress that the solution lies not only in the effective functioning of the judicial system but also in a collective effort to raise awareness within society.

According to Fadnavis, "95% of the incidents are committed by relatives and acquaintances." He pointed out that while such crimes have always been an issue of law and order, they have now also become a broader social problem. "This is also a law and order issue, but now it has also become a social issue," the CM remarked.

In a call for societal introspection, Fadnavis urged for increased sensitivity towards women and girls. He underscored the need for a cultural shift that promotes respect and safety for women in all aspects of life. "There should be sensitivity towards women and girls in society," he added.
