Mumbai Police averted a major security scare after arresting a 50-year-old man from Noida, Uttar Pradesh, who had threatened to blow up the city with human bombs and 400 kg of RDX.
On September 4, 2025, at 2:57 pm, a WhatsApp message sent to the Mumbai Traffic Control Room’s official number warned of a large-scale terror strike. With Ganesh Visarjan festivities underway, authorities treated the threat with utmost seriousness.
The Crime Branch launched a swift technical investigation, tracing the accused — Ashwinikumar Sureshkumar Supra — to Noida. With support from Gautam Buddh Nagar Police, he was arrested and the phone used to send the threat was seized.
Officials confirmed that the suspect has been booked under Sections 196(1)(A)(B), 351(2), and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Worli Police Station. Further interrogation will determine his motive and whether he has any links to larger terror networks.
