Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, stated on Wednesday that "India doesn't lack funds but lacks honest leaders." Gadkari was in Chandigarh to campaign for BJP candidate Sanjay Tandon.
?This country doesn?t have a shortage of money; it has a shortage of leaders who work honestly for the country,? said Gadkari, referring to the numerous projects worth crores of rupees he has completed in the past 10 years.
Before speaking, Gadkari apologized for the delay. He arrived around 8:30 PM, although people were asked to come to the venue in Sector 30 at 5 PM, with some arriving as early as 4 PM. ?I apologize for the delay. I was in Haryana, then went to Delhi, and finally flew to Chandigarh. It took a lot of time,? Gadkari explained.
He emphasized that this election is not just about Sanjay Tandon but about the future of the people. Gadkari criticized the Congress party, saying, ?Congress had 60 years to govern. First, Pandit Nehru was the Prime Minister, then Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, and under Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi?s leadership, Manmohan Singh. Congress had a significant time to govern. They made many promises, including the 'Garibi Hatao' (Remove Poverty) campaign, but failed to deliver.?
He added, ?Congress remained unsuccessful on the ground. The country couldn?t progress as much as it could have. In the last 10 years, you can see the development that has been done. What Congress couldn?t do in 60 years, our government has done in 10 years. I have completed projects worth Rs 50 lakh crores in the last 10 years.?
