Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday held an important meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Prime Minister’s official residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, in New Delhi. The meeting, which lasted for around 30 minutes, is being seen as a key step towards strengthening coordination between the Centre and the Bihar government following the NDA’s decisive mandate in the state.
Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, popularly known as Lalan Singh, and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary were also present during the discussion. Soon after the meeting, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) shared photographs of the interaction on its official social media handle, highlighting the significance of the engagement.
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary later described the meeting as highly productive. In a post on X, he said that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar met Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the NDA’s strong mandate in Bihar and received valuable guidance for achieving the vision of a “developed Bihar.” He added that under PM Modi’s leadership, both the country and Bihar are progressing steadily, and the discussions focused on future goals and development priorities.
Sources indicated that the talks went beyond routine formalities and covered Bihar’s long-term development agenda as well as the broader political situation. Key areas such as education, healthcare, rural development, employment generation, and infrastructure were discussed in detail. Coordination on ongoing and upcoming central schemes in Bihar was also a major focus, with expectations of increased cooperation from the Union government.
The meeting gains further importance as it comes at a time when development and good governance are being strongly emphasised at the national level. For a large and strategically important state like Bihar, close Centre-state collaboration is considered crucial for accelerating growth and implementing welfare initiatives effectively.
Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi. According to sources, that meeting lasted nearly an hour and involved wide-ranging discussions on administrative and political matters.
