Pakistan's Nuclear Weapons Should Be Taken Under IAEA Supervision: Rajnath Singh Warns World On Rogue Nation Threat

na

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday issued a sharp rebuke to Pakistan, raising global concerns about the safety of its nuclear arsenal. While speaking in Jammu and Kashmir during his first visit after Operation Sindoor, Singh called upon the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to take Pakistan’s nuclear weapons under its supervision.

In a strong statement that underscores India’s growing frustration with its neighbour's recent behaviour, Rajnath Singh said, "I ask the entire world if nuclear weapons are safe in the hands of such an irresponsible and rogue nation. I believe that Pakistan's nuclear weapons should be taken under the supervision of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)."

The Defence Minister's remarks come just days after India and Pakistan de-escalated their worst military standoff in nearly 30 years. The recent conflict saw a series of missile exchanges between the two nuclear-armed neighbours, sparked by Indian precision strikes on terror infrastructure on May 7. Pakistan responded with attempts to target Indian military bases on May 8, 9, and 10 — all of which were met with strong retaliation by the Indian armed forces.

Singh’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir includes a detailed security briefing by top military officials. He is also expected to review the operational readiness of frontline troops at the Indian Army's XV Corps headquarters in Srinagar.
