BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi launched a sharp attack on the Congress party, accusing it of distorting the legacy of India’s freedom fighters and brushing aside historical facts. Speaking to the media, Trivedi said, “The question is of morality. The way the Congress party played with the legacy of freedom fighters is an old disease.”
He clarified that the BJP was not targeting Jawaharlal Nehru directly but was highlighting what other prominent leaders of the time had already documented. “Congress will allege that we are blaming Nehru, but we are not blaming Nehru. Sardar Patel and CB Gupta have written this in their memoirs, giving reference to Purshottam Das Tandon, Acharya Narendra Dev, Shiv Prasad Gupta and Shriprakash Ji...” Trivedi noted.
He further criticized the Congress for overlooking internal criticisms directed at the Nehru-Gandhi family. “If Congress is unaware of the internal allegations made on the Nehru-Gandhi family, there is not much to say for me. Blaming legal procedures is wrong,” he said, referring to recent Congress allegations about political vendetta through judicial means.
