In a significant crackdown on corruption, Lokayukta officials apprehended a village accountant, Suresh, in the Kasaba 1 office of Gadikoppa Circle on Thursday. Suresh was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹6,000. The operation unfolded following a complaint lodged by Sanketh, prompting swift action from the authorities.
According to reports, Suresh had demanded the bribe in exchange for facilitating the registration of land. Sanketh, unwilling to succumb to corruption, promptly reported the illicit demand to the Lokayukta. In a decisive move, Lokayukta Deputy Superintendent of Police Umesh Ishwar Naik spearheaded the operation that led to Suresh's arrest.
