The ongoing political tussle over the proposed 65% reservation in Bihar took a sharp turn as BJP State President Dilip Jaiswal lashed out at RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, accusing him and the Congress of decades-long negligence on issues concerning backward and Dalit communities.
Responding to Tejashwi’s recent allegations that the BJP is opposing increased reservation, Jaiswal said, “Congress ruled for 65 years, and Lalu Prasad Yadav governed for over 15 years. Tejashwi himself was Leader of Opposition. Yet, Congress kept the Kaka Kalelkar Commission report concerning backward and Dalit reservation shelved for 30 years.”
Jaiswal accused the RJD and Congress alliance of engaging in opportunistic politics and failing to act when they were in power. He emphasized that the Kaka Kalelkar Commission, which laid foundational recommendations for backward class welfare, was ignored for decades under Congress-led regimes.
