In a candid address during his visit to Gujarat, Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi acknowledged the party’s prolonged absence from power in the state, stating that Congress must first fulfill its responsibilities before expecting electoral victories.
“It has been almost 30 years since we have been in power here. Whenever I come, discussions revolve around the Assembly elections of 2007, 2012, 2017, 2022, and now 2027. But the question is not just about elections,” Gandhi remarked.

He emphasized that the people of Gujarat would not vote Congress into power until the party genuinely delivers on its commitments. “We should not even ask the people of Gujarat to bring us to power until we fulfill our responsibilities. I guarantee you, the day we do this, the people of Gujarat will support the Congress Party,” he asserted.
