“Rehman Dacoit Of Delhi”: Parvesh Verma Launches Sharp Attack On Kejriwal Over ‘Sheesh Mahal’

The political battle between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Aam Aadmi Party intensified on Saturday after Delhi minister and BJP leader Parvesh Verma accused former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of living in luxury, branding his newly allotted residence as “Sheesh Mahal part two”.

At a press conference in Delhi, Verma launched a sharp attack on Kejriwal, alleging that the AAP chief had abandoned the principles of simplicity and honesty that once defined his political image.

According to Verma, Kejriwal’s new Type-VII government bungalow at 95 Lodhi Estate reflects extravagance rather than the modest lifestyle he had promised to the public when he entered politics.

“He made Sheesh Mahal at a time when Delhi’s public was suffering from COVID. Now he has got a new bungalow, and when its pictures came out, we were astonished. The man who said he would live simply today lives in a luxurious manner,” Verma said.

The BJP leader alleged that the new residence was fitted with luxury interiors resembling a “seven-star hotel room”, claiming that the bungalow has five bedrooms and lavish private upgrades.

He further argued that although the residence was officially allotted by the government, the money spent on the interiors was not from public funds but from private sources, raising questions about the scale of the expenditure.

Verma also accused Kejriwal and other senior AAP leaders of taking over government residences in Punjab after the party’s political setback in Delhi.

He claimed that Kejriwal, Satyendar Jain, Sanjay Singh and Manish Sisodia had occupied government properties near Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s residence, suggesting internal friction within the party.

“After losing elections, he went to Punjab. Arvind Kejriwal, Satyendra Jain, Sanjay Singh and Manish Sisodia took possession of government residences near Bhagwant Mann's residence. Bhagwant Mann is tense with these people,” Verma alleged.

The renewed accusations come after Kejriwal reportedly shifted to the government bungalow at 95 Lodhi Estate in the national capital, reigniting the BJP’s “Sheesh Mahal” campaign against the former Delhi chief minister.

The “Sheesh Mahal” controversy first erupted when the BJP accused Kejriwal of spending heavily on luxury renovations at the official residence at 6 Flagstaff Road during his tenure as chief minister.

The BJP alleged that large sums were spent on premium fittings and renovations while Delhi was battling the COVID-19 crisis, and later filed a complaint with the Central Vigilance Commission demanding an inquiry.

By reviving the “Sheesh Mahal” allegations, the BJP is once again trying to project Kejriwal as a leader disconnected from the common man image that helped build his political career.

The AAP has previously rejected the allegations, calling them politically motivated attempts to defame Kejriwal and distract from governance issues.

However, the fresh attack from the BJP is expected to sharpen the political confrontation in Delhi, especially as both parties prepare for future electoral battles and seek to shape public perception around leadership credibility.
