In the wake of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal has called for a special session of Parliament, demanding transparency and a thorough discussion on the Centre’s handling of the Kashmir situation. Venugopal raised concerns over potential violations of the historic Shimla Agreement, further complicated by US President Donald Trump’s recent remarks on Kashmir.
“The Congress has extended full support in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack. However, several serious questions are now emerging. One key concern is whether the Shimla Agreement has been violated. Even US President Donald Trump has made a statement on the situation. The government must come forward with clarity. A special session of Parliament should be convened to discuss the matter in detail,” said Venugopal.
The Congress leader’s remarks come at a time when India’s political landscape is abuzz with reactions to Trump’s offer to mediate between India and Pakistan over Kashmir — a proposal that has already drawn sharp criticism from across party lines.
