Sunil Jakhar Blames AAP Govt For Majitha Liquor Tragedy, Demands Stern Action

BJP leader and Punjab unit chief Sunil Kumar Jakhar has squarely blamed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led Punjab government for the tragic Majitha illicit liquor incident, which claimed the lives of 15 people. Expressing grief over the incident, Jakhar alleged that the government was “protecting liquor contractors instead of punishing the guilty.”

Jakhar, who visited Majitha to meet the families of the deceased, said the tragedy was a direct result of the “nexus between the liquor mafia and the ruling party.” He accused the state administration of negligence and demanded a high-level inquiry to unearth the truth behind the tragedy.

“This is not just a case of poisonous liquor. It is about a failed system where the government is shielding the real culprits while common people are dying. Who gave them the license to play with lives?” Jakhar asked while speaking to reporters.

He urged the people of Punjab to rise above party lines and collectively fight against what he described as “government-backed criminal negligence.”

“The entire state must stand united. This is not about politics; it’s about saving lives. If we remain silent today, tomorrow more lives will be lost to this dirty business,” he said.

Jakhar also called upon the AAP government to immediately suspend officials responsible for monitoring the region and take strict action against contractors involved in the illicit liquor trade. He reiterated the BJP’s stand on zero tolerance towards illegal liquor rackets and demanded that the state seek CBI assistance if local agencies fail to act impartially.
